Christina Grimmie, an artist known for contending on The Voice, passed on Friday night after she was shot after a show in Orlando, police affirmed.

Grimmie and the pop/punk band Before You Exit were marking signatures and offering stock after their show at the Plaza Live Theater when a man strolled up to her and shot her, Orlando Sgt. Wanda Miglio said in a news gathering.

Grimmie's sibling handled him. The suspect then shot himself.

"This ought to have been something that was fun and energizing," Miglio said, "and for something like this to happen is only a disaster."

Grimmie was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center. Nobody else was accounted for harmed.

Miglio called Grimmie's sibling a legend, acknowledging him for preventing the suspect from harming any other person.

The suspect, who was not recognized, is dead, Miglio said. He had two weapons in his ownership, yet Miglio said she has no data in regards to the kind of firearm utilized, the rationale or whether he and Grimmie knew each other. She said she didn't know what number of rounds were let go.

Grimmie, who began performing music on YouTube, is known for contending on the 6th season ofThe Voice in 2014. She completed in third place. She is taking a shot at a collection marked under the name Island Records.
